Abstract

In the research centers in which work on Uranium and transuranium elements are being done, special precaution must be taken in order to prevent internal body contamination. The trans—uranium elements can enter the blood system of the body by way of breathing and digestive system or by way of skin wounds; and considering the biological half-life of the elements, they concentrate in critical organs of the body such as bones and liver.
The blood and urine analysis gives information on the internal body contamination.
In this research the amount of uranium existing in the atmosphere of different sections of Tehran was measured by Flour metric method. Also the amount of uranium in urines of different people from Nuclear Research Center and people out of the center was measured by the same method.
The average amount of Uranium in the urine of nuclear research center’s staff and in other samples was found to be 31+7 jig/lit. The amount of uranium measured in the atmosphere of different sections of Tehran ranged between 105+4 ngr/m3 and 110+6 ngr/m3which is much lower than the maximum permissible dose.
