Picryl chloride has been found to react with potassium benzohydroxamate, at the boiling point of dioxane, to yield 2,4,6- trinitr - odiphenylamine (III) as the major product, and also N,O — dibenzoylhydroxylamine (IV), as a by product. This reaction, at room temperature, yielded only compound (IV).
Compound III, was also formed by the reaction of (IV) or [N—benzoyl—O- ( 3, 5 dinitrobenzoyl)] hydroxylamine (V) with picryl chloride, at the boiling point of dioxane.
