Petrology of the Cretaceous volcanic rocks in north of Sanandaj

Abstract

Cretaceous volcanic and volcano-sedimentary rocks with basic to intermediate compositions are developed in the north of Sanandaj. Chemical analyses infer to these rocks have calc-alkaline nature. Negative Nb and Ti anomalies and enrichment of LREE and LIL elements in compare with MORB shows their original magma was generated in an enriched mantle over the Subduction zone. Also low ratios of imply to their original magma is related to subduction zone.
